What we do

Education for Critical Thinking (ECT) is a nonprofit organization/NGO that is organized to promote and assist governments, community institutions, and organizations to reduce and end gender-based violence including domestic violence, rape and sex-trafficking. ECT collaborates with human rights groups, domestic abuse and sexual assault intervention and prevention programs, shelters/refuges, government agencies, criminal justice system, law enforcement and human service agencies.

ECT developed a film, “With Impunity: Men and Gender Violence”.  The film engages the thinking of leading historians, sociologists, and practitioners who examine our past, cultural realities, and options for ending gender violence.  ECT has a curriculum for use in training with the documentary including
PowerPoint presentations, exercises and training tips.  The Facilitator's Guide for With Impunity assists presenters in leading community dialogues.

ECT presents public showings of the film and facilitates discussion during and after the film.

ECT provides training, workshops, keynote addresses, and consultation nationally and internationally on:

  • Principles and implementation of a Coordinated Community Response (CCR)
  • Influencing policymakers and political leaders
  • Victim engagement for criminal justice system professionals
  • Leadership training
  • Recruiting and Retaining Women in Policing
  • Working with men who batter: Based on the work of Ellen Pence and Michael Paymar
  • Working with veterans and military personnel.
  • Train-the-Trainer (on any course we teach)

ECT consultants can provide ongoing consultation in countries to assist NGOs or governmental agencies in establishing programs that serve to end violence against women.  Please contact us for further information at educationforcriticalthinking @gmail.com.
